ANU Hail Remediation

This project has stemmed from the hailstorm that occurred on the 20th January 2020. It was recorded as the most severe hailstorm event in the ACT, causing significant damage to buildings both externally and internally.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), wind speeds reached 117km/h from a North/North-West direction. Hail stones up to 6cm in diameter fell across parts of Canberra including the ANU Campus.

Construction Control have assisted in the immediate repair works and the hail damage assessment of 120 damaged buildings across the campus. Along with the immediate make safe works, we are also assisting the ANU with insurance processes before following into the permanent repair phase. Examples of significant buildings we have been assisting with to date include: Old Canberra House, School of Art and Design, RN Robertson Compound and JB Chifley Library.
