Construction Control was engaged under the Managing Contractor contract by the ACT Government to undertake the planning and delivery of an extension to the existing AMC Accommodation Facilities (AMC-AF). The AMC-AF project involved the design and construction of two new detainee accommodation buildings.
The two buildings consisted of
- 57 bed (30 Cell) Special Care Centre (SCC);
- 112 Bed (56 Cell) Accommodation Unit (AU); and
- Associated landscaping, outbuildings and services diversions.
The job has been a successful collaboration between CC and the ACT Government with the project team making savings in the order of $7m and handing over both buildings well before programme dates. Due to this success the ACT Government and Construction Control are furthering their relationship by undertaking future projects at the AMC, including a new Multi-purpose centre and an upgrades to the current industries buildings to include increase laundry space and a new Bakery.
