Westpoint Shopping Centre – Cladding Replacement

At QIC’s Westpoint Shopping Centre, it discovered that areas of the existing façade comprised of Aluminium Composite Panels which contained combustible material. Approximately 2,000m2 of this cladding was removed and replaced with a BCA compliant 3mm solid aluminium panel.

The works took place over a 6-month program during which time the shopping centre remained completely operational. The project came with multiple challenges including working within a live retail environment and within areas with difficult access. This required the team to come up with innovative solutions for material handling and installation.
